okay i want to buy a new viedo card because mine is a load of shit. Ihave no idea what kind i want to get either, so i need help getting a video card that can give me an average of 90-120fps in counter-strike: source. With my very shity ATI radeon xpress 200 series graphic card, i can only get 10-15fps, 20 if i'm lucky. Here is my system:
System:
Opperating System: Microsoft Windows XP professional (5.1, build 2600)
System Manufacture: PowerSpec
System Model: ps7121
BIOS: Deafault System BIOS
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 960MB RAM
Page file: 559MB used, 1755MB avablible
DirectX version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Display:
Name: ATI radeon xpress 200 series
Manufacture: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip Type: ATI radeon xpress 200 series (0xA61)
DAC Type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
Approx. Total Memory: 256.0MB
Current Display Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (75Hz)
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor
i want a new video card that can give me frag and good graphics for counter-strike: source. Also i am wondering, with these specs, could i get a GeForce 7900, or a Radeon X300 Series, tell me if i get get one or the other, both, or neither. If neither, it would be nice is you could tell me a good graphic card that could get me 90-100fps. If there isn't one that can give me 90-100fps how about 40-70fps?

I am a noob with comps, but I would look at getting a bit more RAM first, just 1gig cheaply somewhere, then focus on getting a graphics card. Depending on how much money you have, I would recommend a 8800gt/gtx.

Hmm how much are you looking to spend and does your motherboard support thees g-cards?
I've got an ati radeon hd 4850 521mb which is very good for cs:s as my fps is usually 100-200 or possibly sometimes even beyond that if I'm lucky.
It set me back roughly $200.
