Hello everyone,

It's hard to believe but up until a few days ago I had never played half life 2, and have never played CS at all. I took a few years off from gaming entirely, but used to enjoy FPS quite a bit.

Heres the thing, I got a disk given to me with half life 2, gary's mod, css Gmod, DM Gmod, DoD Gmod, Install Gmod pack on it. I installed half life 2 and gave it a shot, and really liked the feel of it. Now I would like to try CSS(CS:S?)

I hit the install button, and the splash screen box popped up, I installed CSS to the half life folder, and... nothing. I read something about steam, si I dl'd it too even though the spash screen says standalone no-steam. Still nothing.

I am completely lost, and keep reading things about servers setups, etc etc.

I know I am late to the game, but can someone assist an old one in getting setup to play CounterStrike?

I think I see now, I got the disklong ago from a friend thatburned it for me. No cd keyor anything like that.

As I understand it now, I need to either buy the disk or the steam buy and register it to steam to play.
