I seen a dude on my steam friends today on CS:S-Beta.
When was this released and is it any good?
Is it buggy as fuck or actually half decent ?
Where do I get it.. When I'm off work...

Basically, valve are testing some new features and additions for CSS. However, rather than adding them into the game straight away, they test them in a seperate beta which is offered to some gamers.

These gamers play test the game and give their verdict, and then the new features might get added into the main game in an update.


In the last CS:S Beta which was 2006 they introduced DWP, the new radar and also changed weapon weighting slightly.

The new radar was brilliant, and is still used. The weapon weighting changes were retained. But the DWP was a massive flop and was removed a couple of months after it's introduction.

And I'm glad they did remove it, it made the game ridiculous.

yeah from the looks of things they're planning to COD-ify source.

Will I be able to use or play my demos on the new engine?

No. Demos taken on older versions of the engine won't run on the new engine. However, you can preserve your old demos now by recording them to video files before the beta goes live. This can be done either by using Fraps, or the in-built Source Recorder (handy guide on using the Source Recorder).


all my demos will be useless in time. that sucks.
