Hah-ha. I hate most of those songs. I was once in the 'ghetto' or a 'shanty town' and I heard a bunch of those songs around that place. They were awful and made aboustely no sense, but not all of those songs are that bad. I can name a few.

Not all rap is stupid and devoid of messages, you just gotta pick through the bad stuff, the bad rappers, and the bad songs, like...M.I.M.S is horribly bad, or Lupe Fiasco isn't too great either. But if you listen to stuff like 2Pac, some Biggie songs, some Eminem songs, those are all great and they have really good messages.

That's what I wanted to point out if anyone went further into the dicussion--Eminem. He has a unusally type of style that I sorta like. But they don't send any good messages.

Eminem and 2Pac AND Biggie all have that "get out the ghetto and make something of yourself" theme going on, so yes, I do think they all have a message.

...Yeah, but let's look at reality now, Swiss. Do you think there's going to be any person who listens to Eminem and say, "Hey, you know what? I'm inspired by his words; I'm going to motivate my life to be extremely successful, and I wont do drugs or alcohol like he did." No way! The reality of it is, people who listen to him will think that they can rap too, and try to get out of life easier. I see people once in awhile who try to be exactly like him and end up in summer school because they want to rap, and they think Eminem's trash talk is cool. That reflexs over the person's personality.

I don't know why people want to sound less intelligent than they are. But I know Eminem doesn't promote education, and instead the idea to butcher the english language, and make yourself look like you're from the ghetto.

No, in my years of listening to rap have I've never thought "shiiit i'm a piece I gotta go make my life better, i'm inspired by this shit." But he's not just talking about money and girls. Actually, none of his songs have those two in them. So, yes, he does have a better message if you wanna get all anal about it.

Well... you're just going in circles now. You haven't proven to me why his words have a good message in them.

It's a bit like OCD. You're very exact about things.

Concerning circles...I'm just saying that he has better things to say than other rappers...his lyrics aren't meaningless, and not everybody might say that his songs have an exact "message" that sets a good example, but he comes from a harsh background yet has good intentions. For example, he cares for his daughter and he wants to take responsibility for raising her.
